Twist Your Trunk!

I recently came across a post about Lady Gaga’s Workout and Diet on, and the slide that really caught my eye was the Trunk Twist. Since bikini season is looming close, I thought I’d share it with all of you. Just spreadin’ the tummy love!

p.s. I trust this move if Gaga does it, because have you SEEN her body recently?!

  • Sit on the floor with legs extended in front of you, knees slightly bent.
  • Hold a dumbbell with both hands and arms extended.
  • Lean back slightly and twist torso to the left, bringing dumbbell toward the floor near your hip on the left. Immediately twist to the right, keeping spine neutral and abs tight.
  • Continue, alternating 10 times per side.

DWTS: Kirstie’s Krazy Weight Loss

For those of you who didn’t watch Dancing With the Stars’s Season 12, shame on you! The dances were spectacular and the celebrities were so talented.

The actress who caught a lot of attention was Kirstie Alley – not necessarily for her dancing, but for her dramatic slim-down. She starts off the first week looking rather tubby, but as the season progressed, every week brought a new gasp. She seemed to be shedding before our eyes!

Kirstie did have a slight mishap one week, where she kept falling during practice and claimed

to be feeling weak. When partner Maks questioned her eating habits, she admitted she was taking in 1400 calories a day and, due to her vigorous dancing sessions, needed to eat more.

But in the end, all her hard work paid off. As of October 2010 she had lost 50 lbs, and has now lost  75 lbs in total. She’s looking so fantastic that heck, even I want to start dancing again!

Media & the Magical World of Photoshop

I feel pretty good about myself most days. Until I flip open a magazine and am bombarded by girls with stress-free skin and not an ounce of flab, flubber or blopdigleeglop.

So here’s a post for all those women out there who feel the same way as I do (and, correct me if I’m wrong, there are thousands!). Even celebrities can’t live up to their Photoshopped selves!

Faith Hill

Jessica Alba

Kim Kardashian

I’m not hating on these stars, nor the people whose entire careers revolve around Photoshop. It’s normal to want a better image of yourself put out in the public when the whole world is watching you, waiting to pounce with criticisms about how much weight you’ve put on and how chunky you look. But it’s sad that people (not just young girls, everyone is affected by the images they see) don’t understand the extents of Photoshop and assume that the skinny, flawless stars on magazine covers are NOT actually born that way! And what’s sad is that these stars don’t need to be so touched up: they are so naturally beautiful (secret: if I played for the other side, I would be lusting after Jessica Alba)

Oh, and here’s one just for laughs: a Photoshop job gone wrong:

Jessica Simpson

Either that’s a major editing mistake … or perhaps Jessica Simpson just has a thing for invisible guys who only reveal their hands.

Skinny Can in Full Blast

The advertisements for Pepsi’s new Skinny Can, featuring Modern Family’s SOFIA VERGARA, is now in full swing.

The ad has faced quite a bit of controversy because of Sofia’s shape. Known to be a curvy yet gorgeous woman, many wonder why she has been photoshopped so extensively (particularly her arms). If Pepsi is using Sofia Vergara to represent their product, then they should use all of her.
“In the ad, Vergara’s less than skinny upper-body parts have been minimized by photographic angle and a freakish shoulder placement,” wrote Ad Rants, regarding the photos in which Vergara, known for her hourglass figure, has been made to look half her size.
It’s not known whether or not Vergara is in support of the electronic nip-tuck, but it’s apparent that she is very proud of herself, just the way she is.
“I don’t ever want to get super skinny,” said Vergara in an interview with Shape magazine. “I think when women reach a certain age, they look better with a little fat in their face. I’m lucky I’m Latin because people expect me to be a bit more plump.”

What do you guys think?

Tyra Tells It How it Is

Tyra Banks, despite the fact that she was a model and was part of the fashion industry, is no longer skeletal. After ‘fat’ photos of her in a swimsuit hit the tabloids and had the attention of every gossip seeker, Tyra decided to take a stand. Appearing on her show and changing the lives of many through her ‘Kiss my fat ass’ statement, Banks has proved to the media that while the comments may have hurt, she is above it all.
The world needs more women promoting these kinds of positive messages.
